This vintage sideboard comes from Gansu Province in China, dating circa 1920. It has recently been lightly restored in an artisan workshop in Beijing and has two doors and one inner shelf. The sides of the cabinet are painted brown, its top a burnt orange colour, and the front a warm yellow. To preserve its patinated appearance the high gloss finish has been renewed. The doors showcase traditional, auspicious floral and butterfly motifs, which symbolise domestic harmony all year round. This cabinet could set a cheerful bohemian accent in a contemporary interior.
